Drapery And Blinds

    drapery
  • curtain: hanging cloth used as a blind (especially for a window)

  • cloth gracefully draped and arranged in loose folds

  • Cloth coverings hanging in loose folds

  • The artistic arrangement of clothing in sculpture or painting

  • Long curtains of heavy fabric

  • Drapery is a general word referring to cloths or textiles (Old French drap, from Late Latin drappus ). It may refer to cloth used for decorative purposes - such as around windows - or to the trade of retailing cloth, originally mostly for clothing, formerly conducted by drapers.

    blinds
  • Cause (someone) to be unable to see, permanently or temporarily

  • Confuse or overawe someone with something difficult to understand

  • The blinds are forced bets posted by players to the left of the dealer button in flop-style poker games. The number of blinds is usually two, but can be one or three.

  • Deprive (someone) of understanding, judgment, or perception

  • window coverings, especially vertical blinds, wood blinds, roller blinds, pleated blinds

  • A window blind is a type of window covering which is made with slats of fabric, wood, plastic or metal that adjust by rotating from an open position to a closed position by allowing slats to overlap. A roller blind does not have slats but comprises a single piece of material.

Curtains and Blinds

A complete guide to contemporary window treatments for all styles of home. Choosing curtains and blinds for your home can be a daunting task. Which fabrics will create the look that you want? What shape or style will suit your space? If you are making the curtains yourself, the thought of all that fabric, all that sewing, can be overwhelming. In this beautiful book, soft-furnishings guru Lucinda Ganderton joins forces with style writer Ali Watkinson to provide myriad solutions for the modern homeowner, offering plenty of inspiration plus step-by-step projects to tempt rather than to terrify.

The 2009 Report on Manufacturing Venetian Blinds; Other Window Blinds and Shades; and Rods, Poles, and Fixtures for Curtains and Drapery: World Market Segmentation by City

This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a "borderless world", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market.

In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.

In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world's major cities for "manufacturing venetian blinds; other window blinds and shades; and rods, poles, and fixtures for curtains and drapery" for the year 2009. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales.
